Affiliate disclosure

Business Name Vault does not currently carry any affiliate links. Nothing on this site earns a commission, and no link here has been placed because somebody paid for it.

That is worth stating plainly rather than leaving to inference. A great many sites publish a disclosure that says "some of the links on this site are affiliate links" before any such link exists, because the wording is easy to copy. This site does not make claims it cannot stand behind, and that includes claims about itself.

The links that are here

Every outbound link in the body of a page on this site points to a state government office, the federal trademark database, or a similar public authority. They are there because the page is telling you where to go and check something. None of them pays anything to this site.

If that changes

If affiliate links are ever added, this page will say so, it will name the programs, and the disclosure will appear before the first such link rather than only here. That is the standard the Federal Trade Commission's guidance on endorsements sets out at 16 CFR Part 255, and it is the standard this site will hold to.

Two things will not change. A commission will never decide what gets recommended or how it is ranked, and where an option that earns nothing is the better fit, it will still be the one named. The content on this site is a list of name ideas and a walk-through of three public searches. There is no product judgement here for a commission to bend.

Analytics

This site does use Google Analytics, which is a separate thing from an affiliate relationship and is covered on the privacy page. It measures how the site is used. It earns nothing.
