The names

The names on this site are ideas. They are offered as a starting point for your own thinking and they carry no claim of any kind about whether you may use them.

In particular, a name appearing on this site does not mean it is unregistered, unclaimed, available as a domain, free of trademark, or lawful for you to trade under. Some of them will certainly be in use by real businesses somewhere. Checking is your job, and two pages here set out how to do it.

You are free to use any name from this site without asking and without credit. There is no licence to grant, because a short business name of this kind is not the sort of thing this site could own even if it wanted to.

The guidance

The pages on checking and registering a business name describe how the public systems generally work. They are not legal advice, they are not tax advice, and they do not account for your state, your circumstances or your industry's own rules.

Naming and trademark questions turn on specifics, and the cost of getting one wrong is paid later and by you. Where a decision matters, speak to an attorney qualified in your jurisdiction. This site is a place to arrive prepared for that conversation, not a replacement for it.

The state filing table

The table of state filing offices is compiled from government sources and is checked, but offices are reorganised, URLs move and requirements change. Where a state's record was incomplete the row was withheld rather than guessed at, which is why the table does not cover all fifty states.

Always confirm against the state's own site before filing anything. If you find a row that is out of date, the about page has the contact route and it will be corrected.

The generator

The generator combines words from a trade's vocabulary. It checks nothing. It has no connection to any register or database, and a name it produces carries exactly the same caveats as a name from a list.

Availability of the site

This is a free reference published as-is. It may be changed, restructured or taken down without notice, and no undertaking is given that it will be available or error-free.
